Sparta to Offer Lease Purchase Financing for Armet Armored Vehicles

Market Wire, August, 2009

Sparta Commercial Services, Inc. (OTCBB: SRCO)
today announced that it has entered into a strategic agreement with Armet
Armored Vehicles, Inc. Sparta will offer its Lease Purchase Financing
Product to municipalities throughout the U.S. that purchase units from
Armet’s line of tactical armored vehicles.

Lease Purchase Financing offered by Sparta allows municipalities to
purchase vital equipment and property through installment lease payments,
with no large, up-front cash outlays required. As payments are made, the
municipality — which maintains ownership of the equipment — builds equity
in its investment. Furthermore, because Lease Purchase Financing is not
considered “Debt” for municipalities, only the current year’s lease
payment(s) is required to be included in the operating budget. With Lease
Purchase Financing, the municipality takes title ownership in the equipment
at the beginning of the lease and owns the equipment at the end of the
lease term.

Armet is a worldwide leader as a manufacturer of custom designed armored
vehicles. With production facilities in the United States, Australia,
India, Canada, and Malta, and service and sales locations in numerous
countries throughout the world, Armet’s leadership position in the armored
vehicle industry is unequalled.

Commenting on the new relationship with Armet, Anthony Havens, Sparta’s
CEO, said, “Although our primary focus continues to be on consumer
financing and leasing in the powersports industry, we expect that this
agreement with Armet will significantly increase our volume of business in
our Municipal Leasing Program

Gift wrapped

Chemistry and Industry, Feb 26, 2007

The physics behind the curl of ribbons used in gift wrapping has been solved by US scientists. According to researchers at Harvard University, when a ribbon is curled by running it between thumb and scissor blade, the surface next to the thumb is stretched. This stretching deforms the ribbon’s molecular structure causing the ribbon to curl.

The work could have applications in the production of nano-sized springs.

Type of business: basketball flooring and equipment sales and maintenance

Address: 14076 Britton Park Road, Fishers

Phone: 770-5550/(800) 838-4667

E-mail: info@hoop-world.com

Web site: www.hoop-world.com

Founded: January 2008

Owner: J.D. Allen

Owner’s background: Allen, 46, grew up in Bloomington with an unfaltering love for basketball. After graduating from Indiana University with a business marketing degree, he saw every reason to combine his education and his passion in a home business.

“I’m a Hoosier at heart,” Allen said. “I grew up in Indiana and always loved [basketball].”

Why started business: Besides his nearly two decades of experience in the sports flooring and equipment field, Allen’s decision to open Hoop World was in reaction to the closing of another, similar store: Hoosier Hoops in Castleton. Allen hoped to fill the gap left by that store’s closing.

Competitive advantage: Allen understands that anyone can go to a Dick’s Sporting Goods or other such chain store for their basketball needs, but he also knows one can’t find custom sports flooring and home-installation service there and believes the appeal of having a personal court at home sets him apart. Hoop World employees also personally handle installation of home equipment, making communication between customer and business more direct.

Startup cost: $50,000

Funding source: personal funds

Projected first-year revenue: $525,000

Potential problem and contingency plan: Despite the weak economy and considerable competition from larger chain stores, Allen believes tenacity and advertising will help him thrive. Hoop World is now developing direct-mail materials

Art of Glass, The

Art of Glass, The

Southern Living, Dec 2006 by Lingo, Karen

Long known for producing glass, West Virginia inspires artists who shatter the mold.

A delicate bowl caught in elegant midflow shimmers at the end of Marilyn Holt’s glassblowing pipe. More bowls grace the shelves in her studio, and paperweights flecked with goldstone reflect ribbons of red, blue, and yellow. It’s hard to pick just one to take home.

More than an hour’s drive away, I admire a “cosmic burst,” an orb of copper wire studded with myriad shapes and colors of glass. Seated at her worktable, Kathy M. Hanby fashions jewel-like glass into yet another one-of-a-kind creation.

New Breed of Artists

Marilyn and Kathy rank among West Virginia’s finest artists, inspired by a once-thriving glass industry. When factories across the state began closing, small studios sprouted in the mountains.

In her workshop, Marilyn blows and spins molten glass to fashion her distinctive designs (prices range from $35 to more than $200)

Seeking his inner Adonis: more beauty and personal care marketers are targeting the growing vanity of men.(Beauty & Personal Care Market)

Response, April, 2007 by Pugatch, Courtney Beth

From professional wrestling and comic books to movies and magazines, it seems everywhere we look there are images of muscular, fit men. As the media continues to be drawn towards this image, millions of men are feeling pressured to achieve this impossible goal of physical perfection.

Older men have been spending hours at the gym sculpting their muscles. Young men and boys have been taking dangerous anabolic steroids and other, less troubling supplements to help reach what our current society deems as perfection.

More and more, these men are even suffering from eating disorders. Others are more nervous about their physical appearance
